Brandon asked:

Hi, I’m 13 and I want to lose weight, I’m 57 and 130 pounds. I’m not sure how much calories, carbs, fats, etc I should be getting in a day.
When should I eat and have snacks?
What should I eat?

I’m thinking about running in the mornings.

    Hi.

You are within the ideal weight range for your height.

If you would like to tone up, remember that when you are vigorously exercising like you plan to do by running in the mornings, you will need more protein each day. Essential protein is found in meat and fish and soy. Make your snacks healthy ones like fruit and yogurt and cross candy and sodas off the list. That ought to do what you are looking for in weight control.

Hi Brandon, I guess you are just after good foods to eat for the extra exercise you are planning. At your height and weight you are at the lower end of your healthy weight range so you might want to consider maybe an extra glass of milk each morning before your run. A good solid breakfast of cereal with fruit or bacon (take the fat off) and 2 eggs on toast should give you a great start to the day.

Bananas, apples, raisins and nuts and make great snacks and are pretty easy to carry around.

Keep meat fats and sugar like soda to a minimum as they are not good contributors to the vitamins and minerals you need to build muscle and get fit.

Don’t just run either, try swimming, team sports or anything else that appeals to you. Each can help with eye hand coordination, stamina, strength and are also great social activities as well.
