What can help take the edge off of hunger while dieting?
February 28th, 2010 | by Diet Advisor |Crystal asked:
I’m on a veggie diet for the next 2 weeks. I don’t really need to lose weight, I just have a tiny bit of tummy that I’ve been trying to lose since I had my daughter 11 months ago and it refuses to go away. So I’m giving this veggie fast a try. No matter how much raw veggies I eat I still feel hungry! I’ve come to realize that vegetables aren’t very filling. What can help take the edge off the hunger?

Try drinking water. Water will fill the stomach and should stop the hunger pangs.

Your diet won’t really help. As soon as you start eating normally again, you’ll gain the belly back if that’s where your fat cells are. If you must though, try a glass of skimmed milk (will give you the calcium you need while following this diet).

You’re hungry because you aren’t taking in enough calories to satisfy your body’s actual needs.
You could try those green tea with hoodia pills (not if you’re nursing the baby still though) they do actually help curb hunger.
Or you could try adding some lean protein to those veggies.
Otherwise, if you insist on sticking to the veggie only diet, you will face hunger until you go back to eating protein.

try fibre cereals. they are really filling
have something like all bran sprinkled on your normal cereal, or muesli. porridge is really filling too
also liquids fill you up more than solids, so have soup and fruit smoothies
hope this helped good luck x
