What alcohol is best to drink when you are dieting?
April 18th, 2010 | by Diet Advisor |Yisrael Chai asked:
I know the answer is really none. My co-workers and I are debating on what you can drink. I say white wine and tequila because they don’t have fat. My coworker says beer and wine.

Well, all alcoholic drinks are high in calories because it’s full of sugar. I would say drink rum w/ diet coke, with more diet coke than rum.

Well, depending on what kind of diet you’re doing, the answer could vary. If you’re doing a lo-cal diet or weight watchers, drink lite beer. 1 lite beer has around 100 calories (give or take depending on the brand), which is 2 points for WW. If you’re doing a lo-carb diet, drink vodka, either straight or with a diet mixer. Vodka is carb free.

wine. If you’re looking for a buzz, the best bang for your calories is Vodka and cranberry juice.

I have done extensive research on this one.
The weight from alcohol comes from two places - calories and carbs. Typically a shot of gain alcohols (liquor) have about the same calories as a beer. Wine has almost double (sorry).
The carb count, though, is lower for liquor.
Your best bet is a clear liquor (rum or vodka) mixed with a diet drink or water.

Beer and wine are the worst probably. Try vodka and cranberry juice or a slo gin fizz.

It’s not just the fat that’s in the drink or even the calories of the drink itself that’s fattening. It’s the ALCOHOL that hinders the metabolism of fat in the liver. Each time you drink alcohol you’re making your body more likely to hold onto its fat especially belly fat and THAT’S the fattening part of drinking, not just the calories or fat content of the drink. Alcohol is your liver’s worse enemy and an unhappy liver doesn’t metabolize fat very efficiently.

Non alcoholic beverage has natural fat in it. I can’t think of why anyone would add fat to it (Unless there is milk added-like a White Russian)
Dieting is just to watch what caloric intake you have-making sure it is less than the caloric output you do.
You can drink any beverage you want to, just remember that there is a lot of calories in it, and you have to account for that-more excercise or less of something else treatish like cookies or something.

perry
it has long-chain sugars, which are indigestible by humans, and they tend to run straight through you, taking everything else with them.
It also tends to be fairly strong

Alcohol needs yeast to ferment. Yeast creates sugar which turns into calories which turns into fat if not used. As we all know, calories are, what is called in science class, stored energy. Unless you use that stored evergy, it doesn’t matter what you drink because it’ll turn to fat. The only safe thing to drink when you’re on a diet is water because even diet drinks have some form of sugar. They say calories from drinks are worse than calories from food. If you’re gonna drink alcohol though, go with wine or light beer. Anything else is gonna have lots of calories and sugar.

White or red wine about 160 calories a glass, as well as shots like vodka and rum, around 70 calories. Any chasers will add more calories. Beer bloats you and hence the term, beer belly.
