How to convince yourself that hunger is worth it when you’re dieting?

OK, the new diet i’m on is called eating healthy and eating less.
I’ve always been an overeater (and before was an overexerciser) but now my more sedentary life has caught up with me. For 5 years I have tried many diets where eat more and lose weight and it didn’t work, so, now I’m eating less. But, I’m, HUNGRY! How to deal with being hungry, for the first time, EVER? It’s strange, and, don’t laugh, but hella difficult! What do you do?

Don’t starve yourself you can eat fruit and veggies instead.

drink a lot of water, you’ll be surprised how much it fills up your stomach, its hard at first but then you get into a habit, just keep going at it.

If you’re eatting less to lose weight then you have to eat smarter. I am a calorie counter - so I eat 1600 calories ( or less) a day. This gives me 3 meals a snack each with 400 caloires or any combination. I also drink only water but very often, as in about 10 glasses of water a day ( 12 oz glasses).
Food look to fiber to fill you..grapes are my favorite they have a tendency to fill you tough. I eat what I must for nutrition and finish off wth grapes to fill me.
Salad is a given, every day eat salad but never, ever eat creamy anything when you’re trying to lose the weight. Fat Free Italian dressing is great..Mustard is great for sandwhich - type foods as long as that ain’t a habit either and MultiGrain bread ..never white flour, bread / grain or pastas only brown, as in whole wheat or better yet multiGrain.

Just remember nothing taste as good as losing weight feels. Hang in there you will get used to it.

I agree with aquarius - often the body confuses hunger with dehydration and fluids will take care of that. It helps to think your body is thirsty instead of hungry, because often it is.

I can totally relate to you. It’s a back and forth battle when anyone diets. Water would be your best bet to fill the empty hunger space you feel. If you’ve already eaten and don’t feel satisfied, don’t reach for something else, have some water. It’s also a good idea to drink an 8 oz. glass of water half hour prior to eating.
