How much time should I give my diet to work before I switch diets?

Loves Weezy asked:

I have been on my diet/exercise plan for two weeks. I alternate days for 30 mins of cardio and 30 mins of weight training. I am on a low-calorie diet with all five food groups represented.

I have not lost any weight. How long should I give this routine before I try something else?

Many natural processes take a long time to work. For instance it probably took you many years to reach the weight that you are now.

Keep a graph of your weight and waist measurement, and you should see the waist measurement start to go down fairly soon. Weight might take longer, because exercise builds muscle, which weighs more than fat does.

One thing you might like to enquire about is Hydroxy Methylbutyrate (HMB). From information on the web it seems that it encourages your muscles to grow while encouraging fat to be burned for energy. I’m not a doctor, so you’ll have to look it up for yourself on the web.

I think I read somewhere that it takes about four months for the effects to be pronounced, and then it works rapidly until most of the weight is lost after six months. The big advantage is that you don’t regain weight again, because the increased muscle burns more fat.

I’m finding out about better ideas than the doctor has, and passing them on to you at
