I’m on a diet and need ideas on food i can take to work other than sandwiches?
August 27th, 2009 | by Diet Advisor |nova asked:
I want to eat more healthily. Have already cut out oil and sugary things from my diet but want to stop eating as much bread. Any ideas on healthy low cal food that could take to work as a packed lunch? Thanks!
I’m not on a specific diet just cuttin out the crap!
Happy birthday bettyboop!

soup–homemade is better because you can control the salt content I make potato soup with ham–wonderful stuff.

i enjoy a big salad (greens, carrots, any veggies, really) with 3-5 ounces of deli meat or chicken ******. i put it in a big tupperware tub…i got used to using oil and vinegar as dressing. you get your day’s worth of veggies!
try having sandwiches on tortillas. you can find lower carb tortillas. i put salad veggies and deli meat in them. also, the laughing cow brand of lite spreadable cheeses is only 35 calories a wedge…good for a quick snack! also good to spread on the tortilla it’s spreadable and doesn’t melt!

depends on the diet you are on. I like meat ,cheese, and veggies. a few crackers is ok too. Big salads are wonderful. wraps are good if you get the new tortillas that are low carb. fruit and veggies with dip. Veggies soups, try to stay away from alot of potatoes and pastas. They also I have some good frozen meals that might help. Luck Good

You can make little home made california rolls. (sushi rolls)
Easy to make and delicious to eat.
You could have your sandwich ingredients made up in a lettuce leaf instead of bread.
If you have access to a fridge and microwave at work, try taking a lunchbox with your left over healthy dinner!
Eating rice cold is generally seen as a big NO NO, but actually its pretty tasty, and I have had pretty serious food poisoning before, but never because of the rice.
So you can make some rice salads, or have rice with a piece of lean meat, and some veges.
Always have a fruit bowl handy, dried nuts, rice crackers… all of which are good for when you get snack cravings.
Make some homemade muesli bars.
Eat flavoured tuna and rice.
South beach diet book has lots of non bread recipes

Your favorite veggies in a sandwich bag, ‘cos they give you that crunch—-Peanuts, to crunch on—-Something I looove is tomato and basil Wheat Thins. Man!, they are good(but take some gum with you,’cos they have garlic in them)!—-
Don’t ever use the word ‘diet’. Now that you have started watching what you eat, call it just that. Now, I watch what I eat. Then, if you ‘accidentally’ eat something you really shouldn’t, you won’t bash yourself and feel a failure, you can just WATCH IT the next time! Good luck! Did I tell you today is my birthday? Just thought I would mention that. Thank you for the space and the 2 points.

there are all sorts of salads you can try for variety. muesli bars combined with some fruit are good too. pastas will also do, but cut out the thick sauces, cheese and cream - drizzle it with olive oil.

Salads, all veggie or with chicken or turkey on it! A hard boiled egg, a can of tuna, ham or turkey wrapped in lettuce! Kabobs! Fruit! Shrimp and cheese! Hmmm, I am getting hungry.

Why not salads, get some chicken ******* and grill or bake them the night before then you can cut your chicken in slices to put on your salad. Still healthy but it will fill you up if you just eat greens you’ll most likely still be hungry and craving flavor. Remember no creamy dressing stick with the vinaigrette’s. or try pasta salad, I know big bad carbs, whatever! fill it with veggies and/or chicken to cut the amount of pasta

Salad. Make sure you make it yourself, because otherwise you won’t know where it has all come from and how much salt is has etc.
I hope that has helped sir!

try making some sandwiched using the lowfat flour tortillas. You can get flavored kind, but they are great with ham, turkey and salad ingredients and your favorite low fat salad dressing. You can also use canned chicken and make a chicken caesar wrap or use bbq sauce and red onions. The possiblities are endless.

How about crackerbread, cut up some ham and tomato, and make them up at work.
pasta, tuna, onions and peppers with extra light mayo, and it’s really filling, or add bacon and chicken instead of tuna.
fruit salad, but if adding banana, dont cut that up until ready to eat, even with lemon juice, it can be really unappatising.
low fat yogurt with cereal topping, just take a single pack of crunchy nut, or cornflakes etc, and put it on top of yogurt when ready to eat.
Most importantly with fresh healthy food is to buy a small coolbag, and put your lunch in it, nothing worse than warm salad, meat etc
